Celeste Johnson, MA, LPC, RPT and her Registered Therapy Dog, Vera Wang (in white)*
Thank you for considering me in your search. I have over a decade of experience as a psychotherapist helping children, teens, individuals, couples, and families. I am a Master Level Therapist licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors and a Registered Play Therapist. I earned my Master's degree from the University of Texas, San Antonio in 2004 and my Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Our Lady of The Lake University in San Antonio in 1998.
I gained valuable experience in my post graduate internship working with at-risk children and families with incredible challenges including victims of crime and trauma. I facilitated children and adolescent group therapy for crime victims at local psychiatric hospitals. I also conducted parenting workshops. I furthered my clinical career as a full-time program therapist at Laurel Ridge Treatment Center where I worked as a member of multi-disciplinary behavioral health specialty team of doctors, psychologists, nurses, and other therapists. There I conducted individual and family therapy as well as group therapy on the Acute Pediatric and Adolescent unit. I also gained experience working at the Residential Treatment unit and the Adult and Geriatric Behavioral Health Units at the same hospital. After moving to Houston in 2007, I spent 2 years conducting mental health assessments and diagnosing clients for the Harris County Mental Health Authority. I also had the opportunity to spend five years with Family Services of Greater Houston, where I enjoyed providing out-patient individual and family therapy to all age groups. I proudly opened my private practice serving my Conroe community in October of 2015. My approach to counseling is largely oriented in how the individual functions within a family system and is aimed at developing the quality and satisfaction of their most vital relationships. I also remain solution focused and client-centered in that I work to guide each client to explore and choose the unique answers that best suit their own lives. My professional training and career path over the past twelve years has allowed me to develop skills in various counseling approaches and interventions. I tailor these techniques to each client's particular needs.
